10 Best Characters From 2024 Horror Movies

10. Abigail - Abigail

The very idea of a child ballerina who also happens to be a bloodthirsty vampire is so inherently amusing that Abigail's title character really didn't need to be all that great to carry the movie, and yet, she's a sheer riot.

Alisha Weir is excellent as a seemingly adorable young girl who is actually neither adorable nor young. Rather, she spends the bulk of the movie toying with her kidnappers - playing with her food, even - while brutally picking them off one-by-one.

Despite the absurdity of the premise, Abigail does genuinely feel like a fleshed-out character in the pantheon of vampiric lore, even as much of her backstory is left enticingly ambiguous. The climactic reveal, that she's implied to be the daughter of Count Dracula (Matthew Goode) himself, and that she's got some weapons-grade daddy issues to boot, is just the icing on the whole delicious cake.

Even though the movie as a whole falls a little short of its promise, the filmmakers nailed the feature attraction.
