"You'll shoot your eye out!" Remember when kids were given weapons for Christmas? A BB Gun, Lawn Darts, an armed nuclear device? Fine maybe not that last one. A Christmas Story doesn't quite meet the typical guy level of violence and mayhem required to make it necessary viewing, but what it lacks in action it makes up for in classic scenes that bring back our childhood - like the infamous "tongue stuck on a metal pole" scene, for example, and the aforementioned BB gun scene. For some, you can't even look at a pellet gun without hearing "you'll shoot your eye out" in the depths of your mind, and that sort of lasting impression is why A Christmas Story is on this list.
