8. Oliver Rose V Barbara Rose (War Of The Roses)

Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner take marital breakdown to the extreme as Oliver and Barbara Rose fall out in a big way. An example of how some of the great movie fights seamlessly blend humour with violence, it’s a charcoal black comedy with an unapologetically nasty core.

You could argue that almost the entire second half of the film is one long fight as the estranged Mr & Mrs Rose battle for the family home; pretty much destroying it along the way.

Having attacked each other with plates, household ornaments and even a Monster Truck, the finale is a fittingly vicious fight to the very bitter end. With Barbara’s delicious last act of defiance, removing all doubt that this is a hatred that will last an eternity.
