10 Best Ever Easter Eggs In Steven Spielberg Movies
"Oh hi, naked lady!"
When he made Ready Player One, Steven Spielberg ascended from his position as a dabbler in the dark arts of Easter Eggs to Lord Commander of the Gunter Freefolk. The film is a veritable treasure trove of Eggs and references not only from his own movies but also from across the full spectrum of modern culture.
But he has been putting references into his movies for almost as long as he's been making them.
To celebrate Ready Player One's release on Blu-Ray on August 6th, we're looking at the best Easter Eggs from Spielberg's career so far (limiting how many can be used from Ready Player One, since this would just end up being a list of that movie's references, pretty much).
So which of Spielberg's past Eggs deserve to be considered the best and smartest?
10. Crystal Skull's Extras
As well as the blatant Egg hiding of Ready Player One, Spielberg knows how to do subtle too.
In the fourth Indiana Jones movie, when Indy and Mutt walk through the Peruvian marketplace, if you look close enough you can see extras dressed as Fred C. Dobbs (Humphrey Bogart), Curtin (Tim Holt) and that sly old-timer Howard (Walter Huston) from John Huston's The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.
It seems the adventure drew more hunters than just Indy. Either that or the trio have got badly lost on their way to Mexico!
