6. The BFG And King Kong

It might have faced difficult competition with the original animated adaptation of Roald Dahl's delightful BFG, but Spielberg's big screen live action version is wonderful. It is the right blend of funny and heart-warming and it does justice to the classic tale of outsiders and a strange friendship.

It seems Spielberg looked to another unlikely duo for inspiration for one scene too, as he created a homage to a King Kong scene in one moment. In The BFG, after she hides in the snozzcumber, The BFG holds Sophie under a waterfall to clean her.

It's a call-back to the 1976 remake of King Kong, in which the mighty beast holds Dwan under the waterfall after acccidentally dropping her in the mud when he has to fight off a dinosaur.
