10 Best Female Characters In Sci-Fi Movie History

10. Katniss Everdeen - Hunger Games

There was a period in which the Hunger Games was the biggest thing in pop culture. While its fame certainly has dissipated, the story of Panem has had a significant impact on the film industry. The story centres around a society that forces tribunes from its poor districts to battle each other to the death in The Hunger Games, where the winner would bring back benefit to their home.

The concept is dark and dystopian, but the best thing about the series is the charismatic protagonist Katniss Everdeen. Katniss is an incredibly active hero, she consistently makes firm decisions and despite always being in mortal danger comes across as strong. The addition of her distinct skill - that being archery - helps give her some identity, but it also brings the characters fighting skills to the forefront.

This role launched the career of Jennifer Lawrence. She already had a decent reputation, but taking the lead in this young adult series skyrocketed her popularity right to its height.

Katniss is a fantastic role model for young children everywhere to question authority and feel cool whilst doing it.
