10 Best Hard Rock Soundtrack Albums

2. Dazed and Confused

Every so often, you have that one movie that just seems to encapsulate a time better than anything else. No matter what extra curriculars may have gone into making it, there was never going to be any other art form that is more accurate to the time period. Even though its origins were in the '90s, the soundtrack to Dazed and Confused is basically if the '70s were an album.

From the word go, every single song on here was one of the staples of rock radio in the golden age of rock and roll, with every act from the time period being accounted for. While ironically not having any Led Zeppelin in the mix, the sounds of songs like School's Out and Mississippi Queen are the seeds of the hard rock genre, with each guitar being turned up loud and blaring right in your face. Since this was made 20 years after the fact though, the Dazed and Confused soundtrack has managed to do something not many others have been able to do.

By having both feet in two different time periods, the songs on here have managed to get a second wind as some of the most timeless pieces of rock and roll of all time. For as much of a timestamp as something like this has on it by design, the nostalgia wave ends up coming back into classic territory just the same.
