1. Red Skull - Avengers: Infinity War
And finally, after persistent rumours that Red Skull might finally return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe one day, he made a brief but memorable appearance in Avengers: Infinity War.
When Thanos (Josh Brolin) and Gamora (Zoe Salanda) head to Vormir to acquire the Soul Stone, they're met by a spectral figure who turns out to be Red Skull. The former HYDRA commander now serves as the keeper of the Soul Stone, informing the Mad Titan that he must kill Gamora in order to receive it.
Though Hugo Weaving didn't reprise his role, Ross Marquand did a pretty spot-on impression, and while the scene is shameless fan service, it's also brilliantly wrought and one of Infinity War's best moments.
