10 Best Movie Opening Titles Sequences

By Shaun Munro /

7. Se7en

David Fincher has a reputation for ensuring that his films have fantastic titles sequences, and frankly, any one of his films could have appeared in this list, but here's the first of two from his films that is truly exemplary. The titles to his immaculate crime thriller Se7en are widely credited with bringing prestige back to opening credits, making them less something we fast-forward through at home and something we're actively engaged in and asked to pay attention to. Fincher worked closely with designer Kyle Cooper to craft an opening credits sequence that would reflect the atmosphere that the film subsequently establishes. Everything from the moody music - a remix of Nine Inch Nails' classic "Closer" - to the fact that we actually see the film's antagonist at work, and the general visual griminess of it all makes it clear what sort of film we're going to be in for, even if we never see that finale coming.
