The late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman delivered an absolutely masterful performance as the villain Owen Davian in Mission Impossible III. He was an arms dealer, a terrorist and a man who implanted explosives in the skulls of his victims. This was a man who was utterly ruthless and tested the series hero Ethan Hunt to his very limits. Take the opening scene. Davian flits between cold and calculating to utterly deranged, holding a gun to the head of Ethan's fiancée Julia as he demands the location of the rabbits foot, a mysterious device he plans to sell to terrorists worldwide in exchange for his own continued wealth. By the time the opening credits roll, we assume he has pulled the trigger, killing Julia and setting himself up as the best villain in the series to date.The Method Behind His Madness To obtain the rabbits foot at any cost.
