10 Best Performances In 2018's Worst Movies

7. Lin Shaye (Insidious: The Last Key)

Blumhouse

With another rubbish Insidious movie we hear yet the same thing from critics and fans alike: "the movie wasn't good, but what about that Lin Shaye, huh?"

Lin Shaye is of course the 75-year-old protagonist of the Insidious franchise, nudged into the lead role after her parapsychologist character Elise Rainier became a fan favourite in the earlier movies.

Shaye is so damn good in all of these films, and despite being the worst of the sequels, The Last Key is still no exception. She treats the material as though it were Shakespeare and is absolutely, 100% convincing in every single scene, no matter how silly things otherwise get.

And above all else, isn't it awesome to see a hit franchise happy to cast an older woman in the lead role? More of this, please.
