10. Transformers

Children of the 1980s may remember Hasbro's initial license to print money, the TV show that was little more than an advert for toy robots, Transformers.

Michael Bay prompted groans everywhere when it was announced that he would be taking the helm of a big Hollywood Transformers reboot, but when it came out in 2007, fans were pleasantly surprised with how good it was.

The Transformers story is one that Sci-Fi fans of all ages can enjoy: giant robots from a distant planet using Earth as the backdrop for their ongoing war. The scale of the Transformers, and the world they inhabit, is particularly huge, and it seems like one of those rare occasions when Michael Bay really is the only man for the job.

Given Bay's action movie pedigree, Transformers has some impressive set pieces, and it makes for a great watch.

There's also a whole slew of sequels which expand on the universe, giving us even more opportunities to see Optimus Prime and co. in action.
