10 Big Movies That Suffered Even Bigger Disasters Whilst Being Made

10. The Exorcist

It's no surprise that The Exorcist production crew suffered dark fates, after making such a world famous creepy movie, sparking outcry from all religions alike in the banning of the film ever seeing the light of day since in debut in 1973.

On set, director William Friedkin was notoriously known for getting the actors to endure a multitude of experiences after long and painful takes, including the famous floating off the bed scene, in which actress Linda Blair playing possessed girl Regan suffered bruising from the harnesses attached to her for long periods of time, whilst thrashing around to achieve the possessed look.

Air conditioning units were used to create the cold air in the room for a chilling performance, meaning in just her nightgown seen in the movie, Blair was often performing in below zero temperatures.

Many crew members have sworn that the set was cursed, with electrical fires on set and even actors dying before the film's release. Elements during filming would often go wrong, including a scene in which Regan's mother Chris, played by Ellen Burstyn, is thrown across the room by a harness. Burstyn hit her back so painfully that she was permanently damaged.

The scream she cries out in pain is used in the final cut.
