This is the part where I'm supposed to give the usual spiel about how we're all tired of remakes and reboots, but I'll save it for another day. Instead, let's take a look at the latest news regarding Warner Bros.' Point Break remake, which has been in the works for some time now. The film is of course a remake of the 1991 classic starring Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze, directed by Oscar-winner Kathryn Bigelow. Reeves plays FBI Agent Johnny Utah, who goes undercover to infiltrate a gang of bank robbers led by an adrenaline junkie and surfer named Bodhi (Swayze). On Wednesday THR reported that Gerard Butler is in talks to play Bodhi, and that though the film will be set in the international world of extreme sports as opposed to the California surf scene, the plot and characters will remain the same. This time around Pont Break will be helmed by The Fast & The Furious cinematographer Ericson Core, who faces quite a challenge with following up Bigelow and remaking the beloved classic. As of right now, the role of Johnny Utah has yet to be cast, but expect that announcement soon now that Butler is on board.
