10 Biggest Questions Surrounding Upcoming Movies
10. How Much Screen Time Will The Guardians Of The Galaxy Have? (Thor: Love And Thunder)
The conclusion of Avengers: Endgame teased a Thor/Guardians of the Galaxy team-up, which we're finally going to see in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder.
But one thing we don't really know is how big this plot point will actually be: will the Guardians have sizable parts in the film, or will they be lumped with glorified cameos in an opening action sequence?
While we're hoping for the former, it's the latter that seems more likely. When Endgame was being written and filmed, the third Guardians movie was next up on the docket, with an expected release in 2020. This means that Guardians 3 was intended to be the film that included the Thor/Guardians team-up, but when writer-director James Gunn was (temporarily) fired and Guardians 3 was pushed back, that responsibility was suddenly thrust upon Thor's next outing instead.
So, because Love and Thunder was never meant to feature a Thor/Guardians subplot (before Gunn was fired, this storyline would've been wrapped up in Guardians 3), it's likely that the film will need to send the Guardians packing relatively early, in order to proceed with the story that filmmaker Taika Waititi actually wants to tell.
Reportedly, several Guardians actors also left the Love and Thunder set quite early on, another hint that the rag-tag group's role in the film will be small.
