10. The Adventures Of Pluto Nash - $96.4 million

Most flops are the films that studios misguidedly think audiences want. So, where better to begin this list than with Eddie Murphy? Breaking out in comedy cop movies (48 Hrs. is a forgotten gem dwarfed against Beverly Hills Cop), the nineties seemed to cement him as a comedy star, where he kept otherwise cynical remakes The Nutty Professor and Dr. Dolittle on the right side of OK.
Its a world away from the Murphy we know today, gurning his way through increasingly awful fare; a career descent that began with The Adventures Of Pluto Nash. A sci-fi comedy (a hard mash-up to deliver on), it has a convoluted plot that, for the most part, plods on regardless of the Moon setting. Expecting space-trotting action? Nope, this is the story of nightclub ownership(and is importantly devoid of laughs).
Although the characters survive through an overreliance on bulletproof shirts (cmon guys, this isnt 1985), nothing could save the film, showing general audiences do have some quality control.
If it wasnt for the (relatively) small budget Pluto Nash could have sat much higher on this list; it has the worst percentage return of the whole ten. Starting strong then.
Did it deserve to flop? Oh yes. Even Eddie Murphy didnt like it.
