10 Brilliant Films That Are Easy Targets For Haters

10. Prometheus (2012)

Ridley Scott’s return to the genre that made him a household name was inevitably going to be overhyped. Was it really possible for Prometheus to live up to such a feat? However, despite being considered by many to be the biggest disappointment of 2012 and a film bursting at the seams with plot holes and inconsistencies, Prometheus remains an entertaining and occasionally dazzling piece of filmmaking.

As frustrating as Damon Lindelof’s screenwriting is at times, he deserves credit for his attempt to make a film that touches on some fairly big themes - like religion, identity, and man’s place in the universe.

The film is buoyed by excellent performances from the cast – with Michael Fassbender being the standout – extremely impressive CGI and outstanding cinematography. Scott brings his trademark visual flair to the film and it's certainly one of the best looking blockbusters in recent history.

If you're able to look at Prometheus without considering its connections to the Alien franchise (which are tenuous at best) you'll begin to view it in a new light. Overall, it was refreshing to see a modern blockbuster with a willingness to try something as thematically bold as Prometheus - even if it did backfire to a certain extent.
