9. Death By Sudden Traffic - Meet Joe Black (1998)
By the time Brad Pitt cops it in Meet Joe Black, you're almost praying for something exciting like a giant explosion or a car accident or a gunfight to happen, just to spice things up. Irritatingly, neither explosion nor gun-wielding gangsters arrive on the scene to save you from your boredom, but those banking on 'car accident' do happily get their wish, as - in the blink of an eye - the movie switches from icky romance to cool special effects show, in which Brad Pitt's moody romantic gets the deadly traffic treatment. For what is intended as a shocking introduction for his character, Pitt's death is unexpectedly humorous, seeing him first of all confused as to how cars work, then tossed like a rag doll by the folks getting in on the automobile-meets-human mayhem. Meet Joe Black may be a rubbish film, but it gave us one of cinema's great unintentionally hysterical death scenes, and for that we must always be grateful.
