10 Cancelled Movies We Wish Had Been Made

6. Napoleon - Stanley Kubrick

Napoleon was set to be Kubrick's magnum opus - at least, according to the famous director. In preparation for the film, Kubrick conducted years of research related to the man and put together a production plan which included shooting in the United Kingdom, France and even in the wilds of Romania. Ultimately though Kubrick's vision outweighed the money people were willing to invest, and Kubrick's verbalized belief that he was going to "...create the best movie ever made," the project went unrealized. Although Kubrick's Barry Lyndon (pictured above) would tread on a similar time period we are left wondering if Kubrick would have been able to create another fantastic, powerful epic worthy of his cannon, which already contained 2001, Spartacus, and A Clockwork Orange by the time he started dreaming of Napoleon. My guess is he would have.
