Doctor Strange is now confirmed as coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His first titular film is in place for a late-2016 release, with Benedict Cumberbatch cast in the role of the Sorcerer Supreme. This was as good as confirmed, prior to the movie itself being announced, in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, when Jasper Sitwell blurted out a load of information about Zola's Algorithm to Captain America whilst under interrogation. Sitwell listed a number of people that HYDRA were targeting for elimination thanks to the algorithm highlighting them as threats - and one of them was Stephen Strange. Strange was mentioned amongst a list of other heroic characters, including Tony Stark, Bruce Banner and Steve Rogers himself. It wasn't exactly subtle - given the fact that his full name was stated - but if you weren't listening carefully you might have missed it.
