3. The Invisible Woman (Fantastic Four, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer)

As Marvel's first Silver Age heroine, Sue Storm started off as a damsel in distress who possessed the power of invisibility. Over the years, the Invisible Woman's powers increased and she gained the ability to create force fields, eventually elevating her status to one of the most powerful women in comics. So what happened in the film adaptation? Casting issues aside, the screenwriters retained Sue's invisibility powers, but changed them so she could no longer make her own clothes invisible. Cue an awkward scene in the first movie where Sue appears before a crowd in just her underwear. As if that wasn't misogynistic enough, the writers replicated this scene in the sequel by switching the team's powers around. Inevitably, Sue gained the ability to generate fire, but loses control over it, burning off all her clothes in the process! It was hard enough to believe Jessica Alba could play a scientist in the first place, but any credibility she strove for was completely undermined by the pervy scriptwriting.
