Although if it's a superpowered cowboy you want, you might as well go back to the source. Surprisingly, McConaughey has yet to star in a fully-fledged Western so far in his career he's technically a cowboy in Dallas Buyers Club, but there's precious little gunfights or sheep rustling in that film and you know he'd want something more non-traditional. Failing another big-budget Cormac McCarthy adaptation (and boy howdy, should he have a part in a Blood Meridian film) turning up soon, McConaughey would be perfect casting in a Jonah Hex film. Now, technically DC made one not so long ago...and it was terrible, despite starring Josh Brolin. The problem there was a bad script and uneven tone. Since DC are going in for that Shared Cinematic Universe thing, they could adapt the recent All-Star Western series set in Gotham City during the 1880s, co-starring Amadeus Arkham (as in, the guy who started the Asylum). A spooky, tough-as-nails supernatural Western? McConaughey should be all over it.
