6. Mystique Rescues Wolverine - X-Men: Days Of Future Past

The Set-Up

As the credits roll for X-Men: Days Of Future Past, Wolverine is fished out of the Potomac River by a team led by Major Stryker, who are shocked that he's alive.

More shockingly, it turns out Stryker is in fact Mystique in disguise, who has plans for Wolverine that probably don't involve handing him over to the real Stryker for the Weapons X programme.

But Then...

Somehow, despite his path being diverted away from Stryker and Weapons X, Wolverine still ended up there as X-Men: Apocalypse seemed to just forget about this entire scene. In the sequel Mystique was a good guy again and didn't have Wolverine as her sidekick and Logan was still impounded by the real Stryker.

Nobody has ever been able to answer why.
