The first trailer for Replicas came out well over a year ago, and while it's often a bad sign when a movie just sort of floats around and exists - without being released - this sci-fi flick boasts an interesting premise, slick production values and a fun-to-watch leading man, so if we all cross our fingers, it could end up being good.

After his family dies in a car crash, scientist Will Foster (Keanu Reeves) becomes obsessed with bringing them back to life, recruiting a colleague to help him resurrect them as the "replicas" of the title. Naturally, things go wrong, and the ramifications of Will's actions prove devastating for everyone involved.

There are shades of Flatliners and Blade Runner lurking within Replicas' concept, and the idea of reversing death is, at the very least, always an intriguing one to watch. With movies like Split proving that January isn't always the hopeless dumping ground it's perceived as, Replicas has the potential to be an engaging thriller that asks big questions in an entertaining way.

Plus, Keanu Reeves plays a genius scientist. If that isn't worth a ticket, nothing is.
