Following the monumental success of The Avengers, Shane Black and Robert Downey Jr. brought us Iron Man 3, which also kicked off the second phase of Marvel Studios. The film tackled a fan-favorite storyline while introducing a few interesting elements, like Advanced Idea Mechanics (AIM) and an incredible amount of armors that offered an explosive finale that was fun to watch. Unfortunately, some fans were too angry by that point to enjoy it. Ben Kingsley's portrayal of the Mandarin, a villain we had been hoping to see since we heard of the terrorist organization known as the Ten Rings in the first film, took a wild turn when it revealed he was actual the actor Trevor Slattery, with the "real" Mandarin turning out to be Aldrich Killian (played by Guy Pierce). While we still loved Ben Kingsley as Slattery, and the actual Mandarin reveal makes sense with the story (especially considering the revelation in the Marvel One-Shot All Hail The King), it still caused a huge fan outrage for those who weren't expecting the twist, which was pretty much everyone.
