10. Grabbers

Okay, so 2012's Grabbers isn't as tense or terrifying as the other Irish monster movie we've included in this list.That said, even this underrated comedy horror conjures up more scares than the similarly countryside-set Rawhead Rex, so you could do far worse.

Most of the appeal in this scrappy, clever indie lies in the simplicity of its comic premise, wherein the barmy denizens of a remote Irish island are besieged by the titular tentacled aliens, only to discover their obscure weakness.

You see, this underrated Irish horror comedy sees our heroes face off against killer monsters who can only be defeated by… getting drunk, as alcohol is poisonous to them. What follows is a series of surreal, sometimes scary, and always funny s***faced face-offs which we can't recommend enough to lovers of horror comedy.
