10 Cures For Your Guardians Of The Galaxy Withdrawals

10. The Black Hole

The Black Hole was Disney€™s first attempt at sci-fi and like many of the films on this list emerged in those heady post-May 1977 days of sci-fi overload. There€™s no denying Black Hole is a confused and schizophrenic film. It jumps about the place tonally veering from Star Wars-esque action to existential horror and is all the better for it. The Black hole is a visually striking film whilst not as visually innovative as Star Wars. It was made after Star Wars but the visual style predates it and has a kind of classical feel in comparison to the €œUsed Galaxy€ feel of Star Wars. Black Hole is by no means as fun as Guardians of the Galaxy but there is a certain kinship especially in terms of the action and to a degree the design choices, which differentiate each from Star Wars. Like many films from this era including Star Crash and Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone, The Black Hole is one of many distinct sci-fi influences which can be seen woven into the fabric of Guardians.
