10 Dead Comic Book Movies That Need To Be Revived
10. Watchmen - Terry Gilliam
The world has changed immensely since iconoclastic direct Terry Gilliam attempted to get Alan Moore's Watchmen off the ground. For a start, it's now totally fine to reboot superhero material before its most recent adaptation is even half a decade old (see: Spider-Man, Batman).
Zack Snyder's attempt at making Watchmen was admirable, but it was also pretty soulless, and for adapting source material that is so strange it felt remarkably bland. Say what you want about Terry Gilliam, but his films are legitimately bizarre in a way that Snyder's simply aren't (the guy is responsible for everything from Monty Python And The Holy Grail to 12 Monkeys).
Honestly, it's this edge that an adaption of Watchmen needs. Sure, Snyder's version was violent, but it felt artificial as hell. Now, several decades on, technology has improved sufficiently so that Gilliam could give the project a good, solid try.
Especially since his proposed alternative ending - in which Doctor Manhattan prevents himself from ever being created - sounds so fascinating.
