RED may not be a superhero movie, but it is based on a comic book. Albeit extremely loosely based on a comic book, but thats good enough to get it on this list. Sarah Ross is nothing more than a customer service agent working at a pension office, and her most frequent caller is Frank Moses. What Sarah doesnt know is that Frank is a retired CIA agent, and that he creates opportunities to talk to her by tearing up his pension checks and saying they never arrived. Of course, that all changes when a CIA hit squad is sent after Frank and he kidnaps Sarah for her own good. RED was a light-hearted, fun romp with its tongue planted dead-center in its cheek. And a lot of those fun moments came from Mary-Louise Parkers portrayal of Sarah. Going from unwitting (but witty) kidnapping victim to energized participant was a great transition, and her charm and humor is good enough to have her contend with the rest of the cast. No easy feat when your co-stars include A-list talent like Helen Mirren, John Malkovich and Morgan Freeman.
