7. Tarantino Nearly Burned Eli Roth And Omar Doom Alive
We all love Quentin Tarantino for his unique cinematic sensibilities as well as his reverence for how films used to be made, free of cluttering visual effects and whatnot. However, he took this to near-homicidal extremes during the production of Inglourious Bastards while shooting the climax, in which a cinema is burned down while Adolf Hitler and his comrades are sealed inside. The shoot was supposed to have controlled flames never come within 20 feet of actors Eli Roth and Omar Doom as they shot Hitler's face into a fleshy, bloody mist, but something went wrong, and the flames were soon enough right by the actors. However, due to the financial implications of having to rebuild the entire set from scratch - as opposed to the countless wrongful death lawsuits the studio was about to incur - Tarantino pressed on, quickly getting the coverage he needed. However, Roth ended up fainting from the heat, and the scene wrapped only moments before the platform it was being shot on crumbled to pieces.
