Universal Pictures

Kinka Usher's first and only turn as a director was on the 1999 movie Mystery Men, which starred Ben Stiller - among other Hollywood bigshots like, uh, Hank Azaria and... um, William H. Macy - as a group of inept superheroes who are forced into a confrontation with a supervillain.

It was a risky movie to make, given the subject matter, but given the ironic premise and the fact that superheroes weren't that popular in '99, it totally flopped, losing a whopping $30 million. Which left Kinka Usher without much work for, oh, the rest of his career.

To be fair to the guy, Mystery Men isn't without merit, but it isn't good either, and it's kind of understandable as to why audiences don't flock to theatres to check it out - it's about as hit and miss as a movie comes.

So what's Kinka up to nowadays, you ask? He's directing commercials, apparently, and according to his online profile has "at least" five children. I don't know what that means.
