10 Disturbing Consequences Of Kick-Ass 2's Ending

By Edward Owen /

Kick-Ass 2 was a good film. Not a great film, but a good film nonetheless. It took one of the more askew entries to the current superhero boom and expanded upon it well, keeping the same sense of off-kilter humour, ultraviolence and satire while introducing us to further aspects of the Kick-Ass universe. All in all, it's exactly what you would expect from a sequel, at least until the end. Don't get me wrong, it was a very good film which managed to clink along at a good pace and hitting the right narrative beats. However, when the ending happened, I've got to admit that I was left cold. It just seemed like there were so many unanswered questions, and just far more negativity than you might expect. Again, I'm not somebody who wants all my endings to be roses and happiness and I'm well aware that Kick-Ass as a franchise €“ or at least as a comic €“ thrives on being incredibly dark, but the finale just seemed to jar with irreverent-yet-ultraviolent tone the films seemed to have down pat. A whole lot of issues went unanswered, and whether that's down to the writers attempting to set up a sequel or just simple laziness in tying all the narrative threads together, there was an awful lot of terrible things still in play come the credits. So without further ado, here's a list of disturbing issues raised by Kick-Ass 2. Of course, you may disagree, but that's the glory of a comment board, isn't it?
