But for the sake of casual and exclusively live-action fans, the reveal that Darth Maul survived being bisected by Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Phantom Menace felt like a panicked Studio Exec decision.

Crimson Dawn was an interesting collective entity to introduce into the Star Wars canon, and the potential surrounding them immediately dropped when a familiar face showed up at the end of Solo: A Star Wars Story.

The decision to extend Darth Maul's lifespan in the live-action universe feels all the more aggravating when you realize it completely undermines Obi-Wan avenging Qui-Gon Jinn's death.

What's worse is Solo was only linked to the main saga by just a few characters, so Maul's inclusion felt all the more contrived.
