1. Quicksilver - Avengers: Age Of Ultron
How He Dies
After almost an entire movie is spent setting up Hawkeye as Dead Meat, Joss Whedon pulled off another of those typical Joss Whedon twists at the end of the second Avengers movie by having Quicksilver - the reformed former underling of Ultron - save him and sacrifice himself in the process.
As Ultron bears down on Hawkeye and goes to shoot him, Quicksilver runs in the way, saving both his new father figure/mentor and a small child but eating a barrage of bullets. It's a heartbreaking moment, particularly for Scarlet Witch.
Why It's Dumb
Heartbreaking, yes, but also very stupid. Quicksilver being shot to death is a little like you being run over by a steamroller. Yes, it might hurt, but you'd have ample time to get out of the way of it.
Thanks to his powers, Pietro could have saved both Hawkeye and the kid (because there's no limit written into the scene) and then casually dodged the bullets as well. For him to be shot, he had to literally stop in their path and wait. Which is about as stupid as it gets.
