10 Even More Movie Roles Obviously Designed For Other Actors
10. Bill In Kill Bill - Warren Beatty
Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill movies are an homage to old school martial arts, action, and crime movies. One man who knows all about those last two is veteran actor Warren Beatty.
Star of The Parallax View, Mickey One, and Bonnie and Clyde, Beatty made a name for himself in Hollywood in the '60s and '70s, the era Tarantino was aping with Kill Bill.
It's not surprising then that the director wrote a part specifically for Warren. Not just any part - the part.
Beatty was the initial first choice to play Bill, the main antagonist of the films and the ultimate target of Uma Thurman's The Bride.
Unfortunately, when it became apparent that Bill would need to do more than just sit in a chair and smirk, it was decided that Beatty did not possess the right training for the role.
David Carradine played Bill instead and did a mighty fine job with the character. Beatty would have been perfect in the role though; his movie megastar confidence would have shone through in Bill's smarmy arrogance.
Ah well, maybe if they ever make Vol. 3.
