Maybe Robin Wright's curse is to be forever overshadowed by her far more prolific ex-husband, the outspoken Oscar-winner Sean Penn. Anyone would sort of fade into the background with him around. But Wright's achievements are nothing to sneeze at, either. She was the delightful Princess Buttercup in The Princess Bride, which seems to grow only more popular as time goes on. Wright has a warm, gentle presence on screen, which succeeds in making her characters incredibly likeable. She went through a period in the late 90s and early 2000s where she was largely focused on making smaller, independent films, which could explain why she seems to be overlooked. But still, she did great work as Jenny in Forrest Gump, creating an emotionally unstable but ultimately sympathetic love interest for the main character. And she's fantastic on House of Cards as the lobbyist wife of Frank Underwood. Those two performances alone should have garnered her far more credit than she currently enjoys.
