The vehicle chase in Batman Begins was great, but Christopher Nolan took things to another level in The Dark Knight, delivering a high-octane dose of vehicular carnage that culminates in the jaw-dropping moment when an 18-wheeler truck goes head over heels in downtown Gotham. Sure, Batman causes a huge amount of property damage in the process but he looks damn cool doing so as the Batpod gets its first public airing. The truck flip was a risky proposition for the crew, and not just for the fact that the stunt was filmed on location in Chicago. There was a stunt driver behind the wheel in a reinforced cabin, with a massive remote-controlled piston underneath the truck that would flip the multi-ton vehicle 180 degrees at the right moment. The stunt was captured from multiple angles and went off without a hitch, with CGI only being used to remove the piston from the shot. It remains not only one of the best moments in The Dark Knight, but one of the greatest practical stunts in any movie.
