10 Most Excrutiatingly Annoying Comic Book Movie Characters

2. Mr. Freeze (Batman and Robin)

In a way, Arnold Schwarzenegger is the only person in Joel Schumacher's awful Batman and Robin who actually seems to be in on the joke, delivering his array of awful ice puns with a demented glee that has an infectiously hilarious quality. Still, to see the Batman property fall from grace so bombastically is nothing to relish, and while Schumacher's Batman Forever was hardly a masterpiece, it had a far better handle on its villains than this godawful attempt. If ruining Poison Ivy wasn't bad enough, we had to deal with the first cinematic treatment of Mr. Freeze being one big, campy joke, and though this was predicted by most, it doesn't make it much less disappointing. Mr Freeze should in all good graces be a vicious yet ultimately sympathetic villain, but even an actor of Schwarzenegger's literal magnitude was smothered by the heavy-handed script. Trivia: Patrick Stewart was originally considered for the part, though once he read the script, presumably those ideas were put on ice (sorry).
