10 Famous Actors Who Inexplicably Popped Up In Found Footage Movies

7. Michael Kelly (Chronicle)

The prototypical €œthat guy€ actor, Michael Kelly has starred in literally hundreds of various TV shows and movies over the past twenty years: Level 9, The Shield, Dawn of the Dead, Judging Amy, Law & Order: SVU, CSI: Miami, The Sopranos, Changeling, Fringe, Criminal Minds, The Adjustment Bureau, The Good Wife... Basically, if you watch any film or television at all, chances are good that you€™ve seen Kelly at one point or another. One thing that's worth pointing out about Chronicle is that, despite its surface trappings, it's actually less of a conventional superhero flick and more of a meditative examination on the harmful - and oftentimes tragic - effects that bullying can have on the young. The most surprising thing about the movie is just how authentic the whole thing feels; the shadows of tragic school shootings at Columbine High School and others like it linger over every frame of the film. Playing the abusive father to Dane DeHaan€™s troubled Andrew, Kelly's character is the epitome of all of the boy's suffering, the core from which all the rest of his pain and anguish arises. Unfortunately, by having such a famous face in a position of such thematic importance, Trank dilutes the considerable power of his message, leaving a film that, while undoubtedly effective, never quite manages to make the impact that it seems to be trying to achieve.
