10 Famous Movie Characters Ruined By Elaborate Backstories

9. Boba Fett

Although the worst elaborate backstory in the Star Wars prequels was the origin story of another iconic mask-wearing chap (more on him later), Boba Fett didn€™t get off lightly either. For a lot of people, this is one of the worst cases of Hollywood forgetting that sometimes less is more. In A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi, Boba Fett was a cool-but-quiet enigmatic character. We didn€™t know who he was underneath that mask, why he lived the life of a bounty hunter, or, really, anything important about him. All we knew was that his costume looked incredible, and that he made for a tenacious adversary (before unceremoniously getting bumped off in Return Of The Jedi). However, George Lucas decided to surgically remove all enigmatic qualities by delving into Boba Fett€™s origin story in the prequel movie Attack Of The Clones. The biggest cinematic crime Lucas committed was the suggestion that Boba Fett wasn€™t as unique as we thought - he was actually just another clone of Jango, like all the thousands of Clone Troopers. Admittedly, Boba was an unaltered clone that would age normally€ but still, by spelling out his origins beat for beat, the mysteriousness of Boba was lost forever. Adding Temeura Morrison into the special editions added insult to injury, too.
