Whatever you made of X-Men: Apocalypse, it's hard to deny that one of its most successful elements was the introduction of a younger version of Storm, played rather superbly by Alexandra Shipp.

Considering that Halle Berry never really did all that much with the part (though the scripts didn't exactly help her either), there's a ton of potential for Shipp to run away with it and become the definitive screen portrayal of the character.

In addition to appearing in the upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix, it'd be great to see Storm get her own solo adventure, as not only would it allow Shipp to explore the hero in greater depth, but it'd help diversify the X-Men movies just as the core films are starting to feel rather rote and repetitive.

Plus, more strong black women leading their own tentpole movies? That's undeniably a good thing.

How Likely Is It?: It's a neat idea, and the fact that everyone knows who Storm is makes it a little easier to believe, but Shipp's lack of star power is going to work massively against her here.

If Dark Phoenix does something interesting with her, the chances go up, but it doesn't seem all that likely, sadly. 4/10
