Children Of Men was hugely critically acclaimed and nominated for 3 Academy Awards. It featured extraordinary performances from the likes of Clive Owen, Julianne Moore and Chiwetol Ejiofor and was directed by the brilliant Alfonso Cuaron at the height of his powers. Though the plot is ripe for a sequel, it seems the studio never even considered it. This may be because the novel on which it is based is a standalone but it is more likely because, despite being loved by critics, the movie underperformed at the box office. This is a damn shame because the final shots of the movie- featuring the only baby in the world being rowed through a sewer away from a raging war- leave an audience desperate for more. The film effectively creates a dystopian world that would only get richer the more time we were allowed to spend in it.
