A film can live or die on the strength of its premise. When you toddle off down to your local cinema, youre naturally looking for a film that might interest you as a consumer of the medium, and the film with the best premise is most likely to grab your attention. But depressingly often, a film with a glorious set-up can often turn out to be a gigantic con. You go into your screening, eyes alight with the potential wonderment on offer, but then you watch the film, find it lacking, and leave the cinema in a huff. What you thought was going to be a glorious new beginning for the Star Wars franchise turned out to be a mind-numbingly tedious guide into intergalactic diplomacy. Then you go home depressed how could they lie to you like that? I, like many of you, have felt this cold sting of disappointment, where expectations dont match up to reality. So without further ado, here's an article about other films which promised much but ultimately failed to deliver. Beware, there are SPOILERS ahead. (By the way, Phantom Menace is not among these films its just way, way too easy to mock. Youre better than that.)
