10. Peter Capaldi Is A WHO Doctor - World War Z

The summer that Brad Pitt's zombie movie, World War Z, was released into cinemas was an eventful time for Peter Capaldi. Not only was he starring in a gigantic Hollywood blockbuster playing the small but vital role of World Health Organisation (WHO) Doctor, but it was revealed months after this film dropped into cinemas that he would be playing the latest incarnation of the beloved Time Lord.

WHO Doctor... Doctor Who. Surely a coincidence? Well, no one quite knows. World War Z initially finished filming in November 2011 when Matt Smith was still in the middle of his reign as the Doctor. However, after having to reshoot the entire third act of the film - originally conceived as a big battle but then scaled down to take place in a lab - Capldi was cast as a WHO Doctor around the time he was being eyed for Doctor Who.

To this day it is unknown whether it was a complete coincidence he played a character called WHO Doctor before boarding the TARDIS or if someone on the World War Z production had prior knowledge of the casting and billed Capldi as 'WHO Doctor' as a cheeky clue.
