10 Funniest Harry Potter Characters

10. Neville Longbottom

Neville Longbottom had one of the best arcs in the Harry Potter series. His transformation from an accident-prone, forgetful boy to a brave warrior made for a highly satisfactory evolution. However, before he became the hero he was destined to be, Neville was frequently amusing.

Neville’s comedy value was often a product of his physical ineptitude rather than his dialogue. During his time at Hogwarts, he managed to land himself in a number of unfortunate scenarios, the worst of which was his disastrous flying lesson in The Philosopher’s Stone.

His antics only continued in The Chamber of Secrets when he collapsed during a Herbology class and was then set upon by a group of pixies in Defence Against the Dark Arts.

In The Goblet of Fire, Neville developed an unexpected fondness for dancing. This alone was not particularly funny, but seeing Harry and Ron’s reaction to their friend’s new hobby certainly was.

It’s a shame that this side of Neville couldn’t have been more prevalent in the latter stages of the series, as his many unfortunate incidents were always entertaining.
