10 Future Cult Classic Movies You Need To See

4. Murder Me, Monster

An obscure and under-seen Argentinian monster movie that blends surrealist imagery with grotesque body horror together in a delightfully sickening fashion, Alejandro Fadel’s Murder Me, Monster bears all the hallmarks of a future cult classic in the making.

A wholly uncompromising, visceral experience, the plot follows Cruz (Victor Lopez), a gravelly-voiced policeman who finds himself falling deeper and deeper into an intoxicating mystery after discovering the body of a headless woman. Although the suspect is originally believed to be the woman’s husband, he is adamant that the real culprit is an elusive monster roaming the surrounding mountains. From herein, Cruz’s sleuthing opens a strange world of geometric shapes, a mysterious motorcycle gang, and the eponymous phrase that starts appearing more and more frequently.

If you’re a fan of off-kilter mysteries like Kill List and Under The Silver Lake with a dash of Twin Peaks and Cronenberg-style body horror, then this is one film you’re going to want to get your hands on.

Be warned, though, this is one seriously grotty piece of cinema. The opening sequence alone focuses on a slit-throat woman desperately clinging to life for an uncomfortable amount of time, and events only get worse from there.
