10 Great Comic Book Movie Castings Fans Couldn't Handle

10. Bob Odenkirk - J. Jonah Jameson

Can we be honest with you? This one kind of scared us the most...well, let's call it a tie. We thought we'd lose you with this one because, let's face it, the role of J. Jonah Jameson essentially belongs to J. K. Simmons at this point, and rightfully so too, he's been knocking it out of the park all these years. So much so, in fact, that Marvel even seemed to agree after integrating him into the MCU.

But hear us out, what we're proposing isn't that Bob Odenkirk try and do some pale imitation of Simmons' Jameson - because that's all it would inevitably be - but instead a re-imagining of the character altogether.

Let's face it, what is it that we associate Odenkirk with first and foremost? That's right everyone - other than you comedy nerds who said Mr. Show - it's Saul Goodman, the criminal criminal lawyer. Saul Goodman - at least in his Breaking Bad iteration - is the definition of sleaze and smarm. A purely despicable character that for some reason you can't help but love.

So with that in mind, why couldn't we have a J. Jonah Jameson within the MCU who - instead of the brash, shouty, over the top version we know and love - is instead the kind of grotesque, smarmy news anchors we've become far too acquainted with in reality? That's all good, man.
