10 Great Comic Book Movies You'll Never Watch Again (And Why)

3. Superman II

What It€™s About: When Superman accidentally releases three Kryptonian prisoners from the Phantom Zone, he inadvertently sets them on a path of global destruction and tyranny. But as Zod and his cronies seek to take over, Superman gives up his powers and tries to start a normal life with Lois Lane. Why It€™s Great: It does what any good sequel is supposed to, taking the foundations from the original and expanding on them. Superman II pushes the hero to greater depths and faces him with a more ferocious challenge, all the while maintaining the identity and tone that people loved so much about the original. Why You€™ll Never Watch It Again: The early Superman movies face a similar problem to the Tim Burton Batman films, they may have been good at the time but they just don€™t hold up. The once-revolutionary effects look terrible now, and even though Zack Snyder€™s take on action set pieces may be criticised, it€™s hard to go from watching those to seeing the tired action of Superman II. Anyone who€™s really craving some classic Supes is better off with the original more heart-filled film (especially given the sequel's messy production), and if they want a taste of Zod, Man Of Steel is a better bet for the modern times.
