10 Great Horror Films You Probably Missed In 2015

9. Krampus

Here is another horror comedy that was executed very well. The whole scope of Xmas horror has been a little hit and miss; for every great example such as the Black Christmas or Finnish tale Rare Exports, there are equally abhorrent efforts, like the mind-numbingly awful Jack Frost. 2015 threw us a pretty good one though. Krampus takes inspiration from the German folklore tale in a narrative that sees the antithesis to Kris Kringle, the hellish Krampus, teach a bickering family the true meaning of Christmas. Don€™t get killed by the anthropomorphic representation of holiday judgement. For a horror comedy, the cinematography by Jules O'Loughlin is also pretty impressive as saturated blues and greys combine to create a palpable feeling of dismay and seclusion. The script by Michael Dougherty (also director), Todd Casey and Zach Shields is pretty tight and the hybrid mix of humour and horror, bolstered by a great cast including Adam Scott and David Koechner, make this cavalcade of festive fighting a real entertaining chiller.
