Everyone loves the first Die Hard. It’s tense, believable, and with a relatable hero in John McClane (Bruce Willis). Oh, and it's super festive.

So why does the third film - one which sees Willis team up with Samuel L. Jackson, no less - have so many poor reviews to its name?

Looking at Rotten Tomatoes you will see critics calling it “loud”, “implausible”, and claiming that by the third film the series had “run out of steam”. With chases involving cars, subway trains, and even helicopters, With a Vengeance may be loud and implausible, but it's all the better for it.

Maybe critics were just a bit sick of the Die Hard franchise by 1995? Still, Die Hard With a Vengeance holds up as a cracking action romp in its own right, with the addition of a typically fiery Jackson pretty much stealing the entire film.
